repairing breathable waders

ROFFERS,

Does anybody have experience fixing leaky seams on breathable waders?
I've got a pair of Orvis middle-grade chest-highs that are five years
old and just started to leak in the upper right leg. Can I seal the
seam with Aquaseal? Or is another repair required?

Thanks,

John

Boy, howdy! I've used Aquaseal many a time and never needed any further
repair. . . until the next time.

If the leak is indeed in a seam, your chances of achieving a good long term
repair are slim. That said, you have little to lose ( the cost of a tube of
Aquaseal) in attempting a repair by applying an ~ 1/2" wide light coating of
Aquaseal (both on the inside and outside of the waders)on the seam for
several inches above and below the suspected leak point.

My Orvis breathables have a good amount of aquaseal on them now. Mostly
on the seams of the feet but I did have one leg leak. I found that using
the aquaseal kicker also thins it a bit and makes it easier to do a
repair without having a big lump of aquaseal at the point of repair.
