I've sent a couple of checks (pretty damn small, I have to admit), but
sometimes that doesn't seem enough. On the other hand, not many of us are
going to be able to house a refugee or drive on down there to do much
hands-on helping.

If folks belong to a group that's good at organizing and working together
(a church, a FFing club, whatever), they might want to check out Habitat
for Humanity's Operation Home Delivery (building and shipping a "house in
a box" to the Gulf).
