Amazing Fish Story....
Sent to me in an email, along with pictures!
"This was a pretty interesting story from The Sunday Wichita Eagle Newspaper a couple of weeks ago. A resident in the area saw a ball bouncing around kind of strange in a nearby pond and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish who had obviously tried to swallow a child's basketball which became stuck in its mouth!! The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. The resident tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish." I'll email the pics to someone if they want to post them to abpf. --riverman |

The bobber was a little smaller than a tennis ball. The fish not as big as the one in the picture but the catch was similar. We dicided we had rubbed eau de earthworm on the bobber. The fish could have spit it out but didn't. It fried up just like the ones that took the worms. |

A couple of weeks ago Becky got an email to which was attached a series of photos purporting to show various severe weather phenomena along the front of Katrina as it came in to the Gulf Coast. She forwarded the whole package to me. Awesome photos! I thought about offering to forward it to anyone on ROFF who might be interested.....but never got around to it. Just now while poking around in Snopes, I found this: http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/storm.asp Oh well. :) Wolfgang still, awesome photos! |
