Information Request on Elephant Butte, New Mexico
 

Anyone here have any *recent* info on Elephant Butte?

I started my military service out in New Mexico, Holloman Air Force
Base, and fished the Butte a lot when I could afford the two hour
drive. It was great fishing--lots of large mouth, white bass and
hybrids.

I have not seen much info on the lake and I am sure things have
changed in the last 21 years.

Was told the lake is way down due to drought and the fishing was not
good at all. Any truth to the fishing being bad?

I wanted to take a two day trip there next month. Figured I would end
my active duty fishing days where it began.

Appreciate any info you can provide.

Elephant Butte. You might want to read it before scheduling a trip there...
