Tungsten Weigths
 

I've painted my tungsten weights a number of times, with several
different paints, at the end of the day flippen grass with a sandy
bottem, nearly 3/4 of the paint has chiped off.
Can anyone tell me, do I need a spcial paint, primer, metal etch, to
get the paint to stay on the weigths?

I use enamal nail polish. It works well and touch up is easy. Although I
use this mainly on hard bodied baits I don't see why it wouldn't work on
weights too. You can keep some handy for quick thouch ups. Bill P.

Try powder coating them. Is fairly easy with a propane torch.

I believe the powder coat works well. But, with the total cost you are
spending, you should really look into www.penetraterweights.com They
are the tungsten you like but, also have a special coating that are
very chip resistant and also slide through weeds and such very well.

I have tried Plastic Dip spray on tool handle coating, and I have tried
Epoxy appliance spray paint. Both worked better than most other paints I
tried. Honestly I don't recall which worked better. Neither would last all
day, but I rarely finish a day with the same weight still on the line even
when using 50Lb line.

Bob,

I don't know if this is the same stuff that I use, but it has to be similar.
If you use this to color your weights, then bake them in the oven for 10
minutes, you'll have a finish so bloody hard that you won't believe it.
Just make certain that the line hole is clear before you bake them, or
you'll NEVER open the hole afterwards.

Well I would not want one never to hang up, I would only sell "one" to a
fisherman.

I do have one that rarely hangs up, I fished one for 7 days dragging the
bottom back trolling at Smooth Rock Lake, when every one else was
loosing 4 to 10 weights a day. I have hung up a few of them over the
last two years

What size/s do you want ?
