Nice fish and that's some of the prettiest carp water
I've ever seen.

Some unsolicited advice; you really need to take better
care of your paddle. Man, that thing is gnarly. One of
these days you could find yourself up a creek ... well,
you know. ;-)

Jon caught that in an irrigation reservoir. Most of these reservoirs in
the West are clear water reservoirs and the fishing for Carp is sight
fishing. Here's a shot of a flat on one of the reservoirs I fish.

Although I'm definitely not an expert, I found that the key is finding
actively feeding fish and to be able to tell them apart from fish in
shallow that are spawning, sunning, cruising etc. Sometimes they tail
and feeding, sometimes they're moving up and down are from side to side.
If you find one that intently feeding they can be pretty aggressive
and you can often watch them move several feet to pick up a fly.

Wow, that's some pretty water too. As you know neither Jon's
pics or yours looks anything at all like the mud holes where
we find carp in the midwest.
