Carp

I would suggest you keep your hand on the cork when trying to land a large fish or anytime for that matter. A friend has a habit of grabbing the rod above the cork. Last year on the Bitterroot he was netting a 20 inch brown holding the rod above the cork and the rod snapped at the feral. It was a two piece 9' 5 wt.Winston LTX. YMMV, JT |
Carp
"Jonathan Cook" wrote in message ... Yeah, I really don't ever do that -- but a canoe doesn't give you much room for leaning, and I forgot my net, so I was trying all sorts of ways to get him close enough and calm enough to slip a finger under the gill cover (which you can do on carp without touching the gills). Hehehe... In a canoe without a net, I can see your problem! :) That's a nice sized fish, I bet it was fun! Thanks for sharing, JT |
