Here's a few shots I took. Didn't take the time to take many pix this year.

the image of dan'l "eating his rod" is sufficient to turn an otherwise
dismal day into a time for endless chortles.

that getup is an exact replica of how bin laden would dress for a
flyfishing gala in the mountains of afghanistan.

thanks, willi.

That getup is as ugly as homemade sin, but it was as warm as a schoolmarm's
thigh. That morning (I think it was Tuesday) Willi and I started fishing at
8:30 and 18 degrees F. While stripping streamers we had to stop every
severalfew strips and clean the ice out of our hands and rod handle and the
guides on the rod. There was still ice in our line guides at 12:30 when we
quit for the day. But the wind wasn't blowing and the sun was shining and
the fish were cooperative so all was well. By the way, that's not my fly rod
I'm eating. That's the Jumbo New Mexico size Chap-Stick. I used about 2/3 of
that on Tuesday!

The caption, too...thankfully, Ron Jeremy didn't make the photo shoot...

Uhhh...won't ask how you know so much about bin Laden's fishing gear and
secret spots, but that said, the one of Jon before the
rod-munchi...er...that doesn't sound any better than "eating his
rod"...anyway, the one before dan'l with his rod in his mou...um,
nope...the one of Jon before the picture of dan'l which might best go
uncaptioned looks as if 4 attack helicopters might have thought
something was up...WTF are those things?

thanks, willi.

Yep.

At first glance, I saw helicopters also. But if you look to the right
side of the photo, you'll see powerlines. I suppose they could be
"spacers" or maybe warning devices to make the lines more visible to
aircraft pilots. I see them often where there is a great distance
between towers, and especially over a river, as they are often used
for navigation when flying.

And there's an airstrip on the mesa south of the Navajo Dam. I've
always figgered those things were strike indicators for low-flying
Cessnas.
