ROFB SC Day 1
 

Day 1 started just after sunrise and what a beautiful day it was. Light winds
and some cloud cover promised to make the day special. I had partnered up with
Joe and Harry's brother Michael was the third in our boat. We raced to our
fishing spot on the East side of the lake followed by a parade of ROFB boats.
Once there, I dropped the trolling motor and the day began in earnest. Michael,
throwing a Senko, struck first and put a beauty in the live well. Then another
from Michael, Joe and I were down 2 fish in the first 30 minutes. I finally put
my first keeper in the well and the race was on. Michael and I both had our
limits by 11:30 and began culling fish. Joe, always the slow starter, had a
couple of small fish. As the day progressed I stuck a nice 5.63 pounder that
Joe tried to kill with the net. Somebody needs to teach that boy how to net a
fish. Then it was Joe's turn to fill the live well and cull a few small fish.
We ran into Steve and Rob and Kevin, they too were doing well, except Rob -- he
only had one fish but appeared to be having a great time. As we moved away I
pitched a Senko into a pocket a stuck a true hog, I pulled the fish through the
grass and out into the open water. About 15 feet from the boat she came
unbuttoned. No idea what happened but that's fishing. Just before time to leave
for the weigh in I heard Steve a whooping and a hollering, I knew he had a good
one too. I think he had lost a giant earlier in the day also. No idea of how
many fish we caught on day 1 but Michael had lost count of how many he had
boated and we had 3 nice limits to weigh. I thought we might stand a chance to
be in the money but little did I know that Chris, Dave, Jim and Mike were all
over some nice fish too. I have posted the results for day 1 and as you can see
just about everyone had fish. What a great day we all had and I can't tell you
how many big and I mean big fish were lost. The weights could have been much
higher for everyone. I'll let them all tell their stories, including Joe and
Michael. Man I couldn't wait for day 2.
