no fishing before mid may for me

sent into the ether: Last year was by far my worst year fishing since I took up the sport of fishing again. It seemed that I was always late on hook sets and I lost a ton of fish bringing them to the boat. I have had problems with my thick hands for several years but I just blamed it on old age and a life of construction work. Last week my doctor said I have severe Carpal tunnel and need surgery. Tuesday morning I get Carpal tunnel and a Ualder[sp??] nerve release in my elbow. Anyone else have this?.How long before you regained your feel? Anyway now I have an excuse for all the zero's I had last year. At least it's not terminal :-}} Doc said I'd be down 4-6 weeks and then we would talk about the right hand after I healed up So I'm done till May Ken Blevins Sorry to hear that Ken, I also have Carpel Tunnel problems. I am very careful of the position I use my hands in. Always wrist straight or down. Carpel and Ulnar (sp) nerve problems have been minimal since I stopped lifting and using my hands as I did during my years in construction. I wear my braces when I start having numb hands in the morning but have noticed if I fall asleep with may hands in neutral positions I usually do not have any problems in the morning. I cannot really remember the last time I had to wear my braces. What I have now is what I thought was arthritis. I was having trouble holding onto my ABU5501c3's and casting in general was getting hard to do in the numbers I used to. BTW, 2- 5501c3's for $25.00 each. I went to the doctor and after playing with my fingers and making them hurt like hell I said "well Doc, is it arthritis?" He proceeded to explain that while it is not arthritis my knuckles were wearing out prematurely. I could have knuckle replacements and the pain would stop. I would have to have 10 to 12 knuckles replaced. Not something I want to have done until I am forced to. As far as the carpel surgery, I have several friends that have had it done and they are all happy with the results. One of them is a fisherman and loves being able to cast pain free. Good luck I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it!
