China pics

Just posted a couple pics on abpf. Its my first time posting there, so let
me know if it worked right. I tried reducing the size of the pics with
Photoshop so the files wouldn't be too big.

Unfortunately, the best pics of the gorge and river are on digital camera.
I'll steal some stills later and post some more tomorrow or the next day.

I just saw one of them on my server. I hope you post/put up more. The
TR was excellent. Did you have any idea what the mayfly it was that was
hatching?

Hmm, there are four. I'm new at posting pics, so who knows whats going on.
:-)

No idea what mayfly it was...it was about an inch long, and was a
yellow-greenish color. I never even thought of catching one or photographing
it, as I was headed back to camp and most of them were a bit over my head.
But it was a classic hatch...hundreds of them in a cloud.

Now that you mention it, Gary, I did a google search on Chinese mayflies,
and now I really wish I had caught or photographed one, as cataloguing
chinese mayflies is apparently a cutting-edge field of research. But from
googling and looking at pictures, I think what I saw was a type of
Potamanthus, possibly Potamanthus Yunnanensis (?) I remember that they had
this interesting feature that the two antennae were as long as the two
tails, but were not in line with the body. Instead, they came off the either
above (on top of the head) or below (under the chin)..it was hard to tell
which way was 'up' as the mayflies flew pretty much vertically. But they
were an inch long, yellow-green, had two tails, and fairly clear wings. I
can't remember if the tail was segmented or if it was a different color than
the abdomen.

You might try posting each pic in a separate message - some news
servers don't include large posts.
