Fishing From A Kayak
Righty ho, the subject line gives the game away ! I haven't been
fishing since I was a wee boy. I have a sea/touring kayak and would like to fish from it. The location would be Scottish coastal waters and Firths. I reckon the rod would have to be fairly compact or maybe one of those kids orange fishing lines. There's a wreck a few hundred yards off shore which I am told attracts cod, though this may just be a fisherman's tale :-) I know the wreck is there but dunno about cod. Any help on how to get started and what equipment to use would be appreciated. |

Have a look at http://www.nwsa.ukf.net/ It is a North Wales site, but it has a section devoted to kayak fishing that you may find useful. HTH -- Kevin |

Therwe is a mag called Boat Fishing Monthly whic last year and possibly this ran a series of articles on fishing from Kkayaks including fit out, equipment etc. Take a look at this linh and navigate to the Back Issues sections - you might find a number of issued (for sale of course) which will help you http://www.boatfishing-monthly.co.uk/ Tight Lines KeithM "muzz" wrote in message oups.com... hi i have a frenzy just use a telescopic boat rod make sure you put a leash
on it in case you capsize and use your dry tub for tackle i only use spinners and feathers but it is great fun until you get 6 macks on then it gets hard "muzz" wrote in message oups.com... Thanks people. The links provided seem to be angled at people who know about fishing, using a kayak to do so. I have a kayak and don't really want to start drilling a load of holes and fitting loads of gear, although I am rather tempted after seeing some of the set ups. I think I had better go for something basic first which doesn't require buying another boat or extensively refitting my own. I'm just wondering if I could use a telescopic rod and what reel line and bait ? |
