a thought to chew on regarding a " winter " classic

After spending a few vacation trips out here in the Phoenix area and now
living here and getting a little better handle on the area it dawned on me
(DING !!!! ). Why should all the guys that live in the cold have to wait
till , at the least , March or April to get in some good bass fishing ??
Maybe over the course of the year we could investigate the idea of doing a "
Southwest Classic " around February at one of the good bass lakes around
here ie: Canyon Lake , Apache Lake , Lake Roosevelt so the guys that are
in the colder climates can come down and get warm and have some earlier
fishing fun . These lakes are all within an hour from the metro Phoenix area
and there are a ton of RV freindly sites in the area as well as good hotel
and motel accomodations that we could probably put together a workable
package for everyone . Just a thought .... let me know what the rest of you
think .

I know that Roosevelt has boats for rent .. not really high quality " bass
boats " but reliable small boats with small outboards ...but that might be
something that could be factored in as a handicap in getting to and from the
launch . I can check on the other lakes and see what is available at them .

A Southwest Classic sounds like alot of fun. Why don't you pick a weekend
next winter and start planning it. I fished a tournament every single
weekend in January and February this year, but I plan to cut my schedule for
next year. I'ld be glad to drive up that way and fish one of those lakes
for a few days.
