New Season

Any reports of days out fishing and where would be most welcome.

My first day out this season was last Thursday 23rd to Blithfield (my
new club water).

It was a very good day 8 - R/Bs caught, 6 -retained and 2 - returned.

The weather was good too. What a nice change!

Went to my local res - Stocks nr Slaidburn last Wed. Caught 9 rainbows
to circa 3lbs. Floating line - size 10 black tadpole and size 10 tin
head damsel were the successful patterns. Weather was still cold
although sunny. All change now - a lot milder but WET. I'm getting to
be a fair weather fisherman these days but if it stops fine for a few
hours this week will be testing the old buzzers out. The heavy rain
will have raised water levels considerably which so far as the fishing
is concerned might not be good news.

I had to wait 'til today for our season to start - and the river has just
been topped up with long overdue rain... It was still a bit too thick this
am so I waited 'til 7pm and went out for the last hour.

8 wild brownies from about 4oz to a lb - the nice portent is they came in
order, every one was bigger than the last so if the trend keeps up I'll
need a crane by mid season ;-)

Cheerio,
