Think you posted message about orvis sale of Battenkill reels--if so
thanks
At my age and resulting cutback on fishing I always feel like buying more
equipment is like buying green tomatoes but as my three year old Okuma reel
is pinching the line somehow when reeling in I made the move and bought
the $99 Orvis deal [ reel-line- backing included]

Now worried that my choice of titanium finish rather than black will
result in my streamside appearance mocking the turkey hunter, all wrapped
in camouflaged outfit, camouflaged face and hands, and wearing a bright
orange vest!

at least I can then say--well I guess my new reel spooked that fish!

I also replaced an Okuma Reel with the Orvis. The Okuma seems to be the
reel version of the Cabelas Three Forks rod. IMO, the Okuma's are junk.
They may be serviceable if you don't use them much, but they're made out
of soft aluminum. I got wearing on the line guard within a year. The
handle fell off when I was in Alaska because the aluminum around the
screw that holds the handle on wore and the hole enlarged enough that
the assembly just slipped through the hole.

The Orvis is MUCH better quality. The extra spool I order just came and
the box says it was made in the UK!
