......to another Trout season. Met up with Mike Makela on
Valley Creek to do some pre-production practice at the site of our soon-to-be film debut. Both of us managed a half-dozen or more trout, none huge, but some quite respectable for the little stream. Weather was near-perfect, if a little breezy at times. We had a good time stumbling along the banks and fishing, with a few risers and others taken from well below the surface. Ended with a fine Lager, and a quick toast to another season, just underway. Tom p.s. We still have no real clue what we are attempting to put on film, Wolfgang.....but, the thought occurred to me this morning that if we were filmed angling for 3 or 4 hours, a creative soul could edit the raw footage down to a half-hour comedy, a half-hour of social commentary, a half-hour of local history and perhaps a bit of fishing. |

My sister is the long suffering type. Lo, these many decades after our first meeting, she has not yet disavowed knowledge of my existence.....nor even declared our familial relationship null and void. Still, there are limits to her forbearance........even I know better than to speak for her. We'll just have to wait and see how long we can test her patience. Besides, we've met.......even with my participation being entirely off camera, I have no doubt that the comedy will come easily and the fishing ( as you boys have amply demonstrated time and again) will be exquisite. :) So, where exactly did you guys fish? If you were within a good tee shot of the turnpike you should have shouted hello. Wolfgang |

Wolfgang we were a bit downstream from the turnpike overpass.... although we did discuss the run and bend pool beneath said overpass. We were downstream of the covered bridge about a half mile or so, and fished down to the dam and back up to our cars. Did best in the stretch about 500 yards upstream from the dam. A lot of nice little pockets and small runs. Tom |

It is said that a man that is fishing... usually isn't really fishing for fish. For myself, the fish is the excuse to be out playing in the water. They allow you a goal and purpose to feed that inner little boy that wants to play in the water and catch frogs and turtles.... the fish just let us look more grown up about it -- flies from $5.60 per DOZEN! Nice trip, albeit a bit late to comment on. I did enjoy the lagers, but for some reason they affected me for quite some time. maybe too much time out in the beautiful sunny day. Anyway...went back out yesterday and wrestled up a few more. A couple by unfamiliar tactics on the fine stream. I'll have to you about on Monday. Mike |
