ROFB non boaters
 

Here's something I've been thinking about for a long time. I've always been a
nonboater in the ROFB tournaments. The first two I rented a boat, but have
also had the pleasure of fishing with Jerry, Steve, and Charles. Each of these
guys had gone to the trouble of hauling his boat 100s of miles to get to the
tournament, then furnished the gas while we were fishing. (Ask Jerry about his
extra expenses!)

I'd like for the rest of the nonboaters to think about this. How about we
nonboaters pay a higher entry fee and use the extra money to compensate the
boaters for the trouble they take and the money they spend.

It's possible that this has been discussed before, but I've been out of touch
with the group for a long time and I haven't seen it.

Don't think it's a factor Rob, I've yet to take an ROFB rider out w/o him
offering me cash to compensate for my expenses. Kind thought though, hope I
get to take you out someday!

I, as a boater, enjoy spending time with other rofb members, and have no
problem with taking anyone fishing. But, my intentions for pulling my boat
is to gaurentee that I have a ride, and that maybe everyone else has a ride
too. I'm don't bring it to be a guide, so I'm not going to expect anyone to
pay me for services. Helping pay for the gas used is a courtesy... but not
required, in my book. I appreciate anything offered however.

One thing I enjoyed last year at the NWC was giving my boat to Joe for Day
2, so that he could be a boater and I could be a non-boater. Doing that gave
me the opportunity to fish with someone that I usually wouldn't have had a
chance to fish with. This is one advantage that non-boaters have over us.
Maybe next year, Joe will have our Secret Weapon Lures Triton and I can
become a non-boater for a change. Let's hope!!

ROFB non boaters
 

I fsih as a non-boater once a month in the Yuma Bassmasters tournaments.
Nobody has every complained about the boater fees being less than than the
non boater fees.

Boaters pay 30 and non-boaters pay 45. The other 15 goes back to the
boater. I think it is more than fair when you consider how much fuel alone
costs. I have easily burned $30 or more in a day in fuel in my big boat
when running way upriver. Thats doesn't count wear and tear on my boat,
batteries, or fuel to tow it. Heck my big truck probably burns at aroun 11
mpg when towing. Its almost 30 miles one way to where we launch. Imagine
driving hundreds of miles to go to an ROFB classic.

I definitey think a small difference in entry fee is more than reasonable.

When I'm riding in some one elses boat I always offer. Sometimes people accept some don't. I hold no prejustis (sp) either way.

As a non boater in one regular tournament series I'm all for paying a little
extra to comp the boater. Personally when I take my boat I can more than
afford to go out, but its always nice when the other guy pitches in. Better
yet, help clean up and wipe down the boat afterwards.
