Fawn Lake

A friend sent me a copy of the book Yellowstone Fishes. It has a
Checklist of Fish Known in Yellowstone Waters. Fawn Lake is in the
checklist. It has brook trout.

If the so-called Fawn Lake is such a great fishing spot then
those who hiked up there last year will certainly want to hike
up there again this year.

I await the trip report with bated breath. ;-)

I don't recall anyone making a claim of fantastic fishing at Fawn Lake. The
question debated here had to do with whether or not the lake exists, one
party adamantly insisting that it does not, and the opposing camp unable to
come up with anything better than national park literature, maps, air
photos, satellite photos, testimonial evidence from several witnesses, and
on the ground photos taken by at least one of those witnesses.

I await the trip report with bated breath. ;-)

Considering where your head resides, I'd recommend holding your breath for
as long as possible.

I recall someone recommending that so-called lake as a great
place to camp and fish. Someone was wrong. What remains to be
seen is if someone will be pertinacious enough to hike up there
for the second year in a row.

Well, no one.....least of all you, it would appear.....is responsible for
what you recall. At any rate, Fawn Lake may well be a great place to camp
and fish, even if the fishing is not fantastic. The funny thing about
abysmal readers isn't so much that they're abysmal readers.....um.....well,
o.k., that IS funny enough......but the REALLY funny thing is that they
invariably assume that everyone around them is equally blessed.

Meanwhile, you're just another common garden variety liar.

Wolfgang
and you should look more closely at the definition of "pertinacious" in your
precious little dictionary.

The so-called Fawn lake is neither a great place to camp nor
a great place to fish. I can recall that much.

I was there. I saw an unfishable mass of weeds.

When you go back post pix of the fish you catch. ;-)

You were lost. I saw the place you are probably talking about and it wasn't Fawn
Lake.

why don't you google it and see what i actually said. but, now that
i've been there, seen the lake, seen the rising fish in the lake, fished
two of the small streams (fawn creek and the gardner) near the lake, and
caught lots of larger-than-carolina-size brookies in them, i'll
certainly recommend it as a great place to camp and fish...this time,
i'd suggest taking a float tube along though. the park recommends it as
a camping area; at least one backcountry outfitter advertises it as one
of his offered camping/fishing trips in the park, and the fellas at blue
ribbon describe big brook trout taken from fawn lake....and you now say
it's a so-called lake after initially denying its existence.

the only one being "pertinacious" about the lake is you...but, then, we
both know you're wrong...which, all things considered, i regret to admit
openly, is pretty satisfying.
