Bluefin Tuna in lower American river?

This morning @ 8:42 am I land a small 600# Bluefish Tuna on my new Winston
split cane rod. Good thing I opted for the 4 weight and not the 3 weight I
was eyeing first.

I am only guessing on the weight because all I finally got in was the head
which weighed near 200#s. A big shark got my fish because I might have
played it too long?

I was using the new Orvis fluorocarbon 6x tippet which is 47# test with a
12"x #6/0 barbless mackerel imitation. This new FC is the main reason for my
success in hooking the giant fish. I guess you all know by now that if you
don't use FC tippet you will never catch anything over 12" in fresh water
and 5 pounds in salt water.

I was lucky that I did fill my new 1.5 ounce 6" large arbor titanium 3 speed
reel with 500 yards of 10# Gel-spun backing. Lucky it had a drag that is a
combination of carbon fiber and Gore-tex blended with silicone extracts.
There is a small radiator inconveniently mounted on the side of the reel
that I think is necessary for fly fishers of my caliber but you guys will
never really need that option.

Conveniently, I was able to borrow some water skis from a person which
enabled me to follow the fish downstream for 17 miles where I beached it
near the confidence of the Sacramento river.

After CNN got down interviewing me I was life flighted in a military
helicopter to a restaurant were Dick Chaney and other were waiting to
congratulate me.

PS: If I was not the best fly caster that has ever lived I would not have
been able to make that 123' reach cast in the firs place.

Later today I will not be available for comment or autograph signings
because I will be in a hot tube in Argentina with some super models, unnamed
to protect their reputation.

Sounds pretty humdrum. Enjoy that hot tube.

This is the first high quality addition to the ongoing liars contest in
a long time.
Good work Bill.

Other memorable entries:

1) G.G's claim that it wasn't him who had said all those nasty
things--someone
else had stolen his password.

2) The Big Hole River dissapears underground.

3) others?

.............................snipped fascinating story)

Wow, that explains it!!

I had just flown out your way yesterday and was fishing the surf off of
Dillon Beach when I got into this beautiful 7300# Mako Shark this morning.
As they weighed in the beast to see just how many records I would break, and
where in the records books I would appear, a local gentleman, I think his
name was Charlie Ginsburg, told me that the Great White only gets up to 7K #
and this one looked larger. It all makes sense now, because after all of
the interviews, the parade, and of course the gratuitous sex (18 different
Oakland Raider's Cheerleaders in the past 12 hours), we decided to filet him
up for a community feast. When we were gutting the stomach we find this
huge body of a Blue Fin Tuna, but no head...

I can' say enough, and really thank you enough, for hooking into your fish,
as the last two records I broke, the Global Largest Great White, and the
largest fish ever caught on 10# Nylon Mono with a long 12 foot split oak
rod, were broken by a mere few hundred pounds. Without it, I would be just
another lowly fisherman.

Last night I was just approached by ESPN, Spike, and OLN, to host my own
Fishing/Outdoors show. I'm leaning towards OLN as they will also give me a
10% stake in their network and after my show starts up they expect their
overall ratings to triple over night (I know, I know, not hard to do, but
all the better). ESPN offered to whack the Spanish Fly, and rename it the
Finnish Fly, which was very tempting, but they only offered a 7 million
dollar signing bonus so will have to turn them down. Spike offered to give
me prime time (8-11, seven days a week) but I figured I wouldn't have time
for the family.

I plan on starting up the show with a Western Clave Shoot as long as Mike
Shaw, Tom Littleton, Dave Gunnett, Joel Axelrod, Natty Bumpo (a.k.a. Mike
Pitch), Vince Norris, JeffPA (the last name escapes me), Bill Claspy (Sorry
Claspy, no stand-ins this time), Bruce Fisher, Willi, RW, Bruiser,
Hightower, and IJ, all change their plans and show up in Yellowstone.
Otherwise the first show will be off the coast of Kona, Competing with Bart
Miller, looking for the elusive 3 Grander Blue Marlin.

Hold on...someone's knocking at the door, waiting on Norm Issacs to show up
to give me some pointers...................

It was Publisher's Clearing House!! Just the 2 Million Dollar prize, but
pocket cash is tight, so that will help get me through til I get my advance
from Cabela's. Look for our tour around North America, and they will also
display the Marlin in their Hamburg, PA store once we're done.

BTW, working on the PA Clave for next year too. I was in conference with
George Harvey, and Joe Humphries, this morning and it should be a big
production with George, Joe, Charlie Meck, Greg Hoover, Dwight Landis, Jimmy
Carter, George Bush Sr (his son was not invited...), and many others to be
signed. Get working now on plans for next year, and lock in now with
those reservations.

Gotta go, it's been rumored there's a 60+ # Smallmouth in the Green Lane
Reservoir and need to teach my boys Matthew (4) and Daniel (7) how to fish.
I think that would take the 4 # freshwater record, and they have their new
Spiderman Zebcos, so should be a piece of cake.

Happy Trails, Tight Lines, Live Long and Prosper!!

Mike
