Seems I will be staying on Mille Lacs Lake and catching walleye and
smallmouth during August but would like to flyfish on Rum river for
smallies also. Any info appreciated---can you kayak or canoe part of this
stream.?
Any of you guys fish up that way?

Not for years. It use to be one of the primo carp rivers in Minnesota.

I believe there are a couple of little dams up near the exit from
Mille Lacs. I've seen one of them. Shouldn't be any trouble to
portage it and the other sounds about the same.

Various parts of the Rum are nice to canoe / kayak. I've only done so
down near Princeton and Cambridge, though. It's a pretty mellow
little river.

Often taunted by trout. Almost entirely harmless. Really.

Don't ask me what time it is lest I'm of
a mood to tell you how to make a clock.
