A.M Report////Kinda Long
KEW!
What a long winded post~ "alwaysfishking" wrote in message ... Got out a little later than I wanted to, It's getting light at about 5 a.m but didn't get out until 5:45, My lake has betrayed me, instead of the overcast, windy thing that has been a fishing heaven, it was now like one big piece of glass, not a ripple to be seen anywhere. Due to the fact this trip would only last about 2 hours, I was not going to bring the whole 400 pound tackle bag. I opted for what worked well for me the past few days, a few bags of speed worms and a few bags of wackos, and my terminal tackle. Loaded the boat and shoved off, right off the first point I hit my first bass on a wacky rigged wacko, little guy about 13-14 inches, Hmmm still biting and still in the same general area's wood up on or near shore. As I cruised the rim of the lake heading to my flooded timber spot I managed 3 more fish all on the junebug speedworm, all on topwater retrieve, casting down the shoreline worked well as the speedworm came near any wood it just got hammered. Those fish were all decent fish also, I missed a few fish on the hook set, but judging by the torn up worm they might have been pickerel. I got back into the stick field and worked the shoreline varying between top water retrieve and lift and fall with the speedworm. I was using my spinning reel(which I should not have been ) with the yozuri 10 pound test, fishing in the thickest of sticks. I figure if the topwaer bite continued I could keep the fish up on top and get her in, Not so lucky, as my worm was inhaled and the fish put a nice bend in the rod and dove down, leaving my hook embedded in a nice size stick, Picked up the baitcaster with the 40 lb spiderwire stealth(not bad stuff) and chucked my worm back towrds the hole the fish hit from, It was grabbed again, this time I set the hook like it was a tuna and got the fish right up and to the boat, no scale but it did measure just short of 18 inches, a nice fish indeed. Don't think it was the same fish, but it didn't really matter. One more fish a lot samaller out of there and it was time to head in. I cruised the center of the lake out to the deeper sticks and saw bass chasing down minnows and kicked myself for not taking at least 1 spinner bait as they wanted nothing to do with my soft plastics, that could have easily bagged another 2 or 3 fish, and some of the bigger fish have come from those sticks. All in all 6 more fish this morning and only 1 that was really considered a dink, the fishing continues to be the best I have had in years, real easy to make the decision to sleep in or fish when the fishing is like this. I'll post some pictures later on. Randy |
