As ever, Derek M give sound advice.
I would also suggest you avoid wellies. The grip might be ok, but you dont get a good feel of the ground underfoot, and the high leg can get in the way when you need to be nimble. Consider the ankle boots made by trainer manufactorers - Hi Tec etc. Usually water resistant, rarely waterproof (but then you are not intending to fall in, nor go rock hopping in rain), and salt water ruins them after a season or so. But they are light, comfy, and a good allrounder; you can pick them up from £15 - £60. Watch out for 'hiking' shoes and boots - the soles are designed to be quite stiff and rigid, which you do not want (but not so far as they are sloppy, as Derek says) Ian "William" wrote in message ...
