Bass on the Fly in Oklahoma

Had a great morning last weekend on lake Skiatook. Hit the water at
4:30 am, right before the bass tourney goobers got there. Despite the
huge turnout of boats, they all went way past us while we fished within
1/2 mile of the ramp.
The Kentucky bass were schooling like white bass or hybrids. We pulled
them in left and right on everything from top water poppers to a
muddler minnow I tied as one of my very first flies over 10 years ago.
What a blast on a 5 wt rod, which made even the occassional bluegill a
lot of fun to battle.

Amen to that roadhunter. Question: If you *had* been part of the frenzy
that is tournament bass fishing, how do you think you might have fared
on that particular day?

Your pal,

It is impossible to catch and release a wild trout.
