Here's a brilliant concept

Here's a suggestion I have too often not followed myself:

Remember in the kids auditorium in grade school
when all the kids would start to say "shhhhhh" all at
once......until it reached a crescendo of sorts?
Well, here's my vaguely-related suggestion:

When ever he posts some insult, personal dig or non-constructive troll,
just ignore him.
Shine it on. Take a deep breath and don't in any way respond.
Not only will it help the newsgroup, but being ignored will really ****
him off.
A response (of any kind) is exactly what the trolling jerk wants.
So dissapoint him.

..........whoever he is. Might even apply to me on occasion.

I remember it....better than you, apparanetly. It was never all of
them. Somewhat ironically, those who did participate all grew into
adults who never did learn what the word "crescendo" denotes.

Well, here's my vaguely-related suggestion:

Oh, goody, we can hardly wait! :)

When ever he posts some insult, personal dig or non-constructive troll,
just ignore him.

He? Who he?

Shine it on.

Rock on, dude!

Lay on, McDuff.

Come on!

Let's get it on.

Go on.

Pass it on.

Party on!

Take a deep breath and don't in any way respond.

Oops. :(

Not only will it help the newsgroup, but being ignored will really ****
him off.

Um......he's probably reading this. How are you going to convince him
that this is ignoring?

A response (of any kind) is exactly what the trolling jerk wants.
So dissapoint him.

Ain't gonna happen, cap'n. Timmy has been dragging the same stinkbait
through here for years and not only do whatever newbies have showed up
since the last time jump at the chance to impale themselves, but many
of the veterans line up as fast as possible to demonstrate that they
haven't learned a goddamn thing.

.........whoever he is.

Oh? It maybe isn't timmy?

Hm.....kennie?.....kennie?.....stevie?.....davie?. ....davie?....."joe"?.....or.....dicklet?

Might even apply to me on occasion.

Nope, that would be "dumbass," not "inept troll."

Wolfgang
who just can't wait to see what develops from THIS little plot twist!
:)

Is there some reason you think most people haven't yet figured out they have
this remarkable power to *not* respond? Amazingly, it takes far less energy
than the alternative. ;-)

.. . . and why do you think this would help the newsgroup?

Why all the sudden attention to the nature of ROFF traffic?

In any case, I feel your plight, but it's easily handled. Xnews is a great
free usenet client, with great screening tools. If a thread gets tedious
for you, its a simple matter to kill the whole thread, or one branch of it,
and you'll never see it again.
