Fishing near Bend, OR

I'm going to be on vacation next week and will spend at least a portion
of that time in Central Oregon. I've fished the lower Deschutes a
couple times and the South Santiam a couple times, but never spent any
time fishing in the Sisters and Bend area.

Current plan is to come from Medford then Bend then Sisters before
heading back to Portland. Fishing isn't the primary purpose, but
I'm getting too old to climb/hike every day so I'll have some extra
time in each of those locations.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
- Ken

Read westfly.
I would do the Fall river and Clear Lake ( kinda of on the way back).
Bring your fishing jacket with the padded elbows -you may need to elbow
your way into the water.
If your going to Medford down I-5 the small mouth fishing in the Umpqua
is good. Lots of fish, warm weather and not to crowded.

The Crooked is not fishing at all well this year. Best bets for stream
fishing are the Fall River, Upper or Middle Deschutes, and the Metolius.
Any of the many fly shops in Bend can give you up-to-the-minute info;
the expert on the Metolius, though, is Jeff Perrin at The Fly Fisher's
Place in Sisters. Of the lakes, East seems to be fishing best. If
you're interested, ping me here and I could show you some spots on
Thursday or Friday.

Thanks. I'm a little pressed for time heading down to Medford, but I'll
try to hit the Fall River. I don't do crowds though, I might just turn
around and head out if there's too many people.

Thanks. I don't have a fixed schedule, who knows where I'll wind up on
Thurs/Fri, but thanks for the offer. I need to be back in Seaside on
Sunday for a tournament, but other than that I've got a week to as I
please.
