I see the term "4 ault hook". What kind of hook is it?

You actually read "4 ault"?
Or did you hear someone say something that sounded like "4 ault"?

Try "Four-Aught" - otherwise known as "4/0". It's a fairly large hook, they'd
be good for stripers and bluefish, or live-lining for big largemouth bass...
