Scientific Anglers DT Line Question
 

I going to purchase a Galvan Reel Standard and it comes with free Scientific
Anglers Line and backing if I chose the Air Cel double taper line. I can
upgrade by paying $35.oo if I chose the Trout or GPX double taper line.

I pulled the SA website and looked over the three line specs, which look
pretty close to me with only very slight differences. So my question is,
has anyone fished the Air Cel DT line?

are will not get "gunked" as fast, and tend to shoot a little better IMO.
Conventional wisdom, is that one may skimp on the rod and or reel but don't
skimp on the line.

Define skimped.

The last two factory rods I bought were almost two years ago. One was a
close out. It cost under $400 while it's new replacement model cost over
$600. The second was a rod I had been coveting for sometime but would never
spend the $$ on. I made a decision to go the used route while it was
available new saving three hundred dollars. The last reels I bought to go
with said rods was a Ross CLA's, good reels for the money but much less than
the Evolutions, Hardy's or Abel I would normally go with. Oh yea, I have a 5
wt that I love to fish dry flies and emergers with a Cortland dt sylk but I
suck with that combo trying to cast a big assed streamer. So instead of
buying a new reel like I used to do, I ordered a spare spool. But I did not
skimp on the line g (Rio Nymph taper).

So I guess you can say I skimped on those.

Tom - FWIW, the high end SA lines will probably shoot better and last
longer. I'm using a 5wt XXD line I've been using for about three years now
and it's like new. That said, the Air Cell line will probably be good for a
few years of normal fishing. If you go to any of the annual fly fishing
shows in the winter, you can usually find the high end lines at bargain
prices. Take the Air Cell now and save the $35 for shopping the shows. It's
much more fun that way. :)

Since you're getting advice at both ends of the spectrum, why not go to the
