What do you guys use for rod tie downs.I've been using "Velcro" straps that
work ok but wear out quickly and loose their hold down strength. I have to
replace them about every 2 years What do you guys recommend????
Thanks Ken Blevins

I have some Velcro straps on my Bass Cat that slide through a buckle then
fold back to Velcro down. They are holding up very well for me so far at a
little over a year old. I have felt since day one that they seem to be
better built and hold rods more securely than the two flap Velcro Rod
Savers.

On my old boats I tried the regular flap over vireo ones, and found they
didn't last me two years, of course back then I left my boat out in the sun.
I much preferred the stretch rubber bungies with the chrome hold down
screwed to the deck. Those secured my rods very well. My cat has one of
those on the back for my passenger rod ramp. It works great.

Ken,

Rod Buckles are the absolute best, IMO. Steve Huber turned me onto
them, and I used to use Velcro, but in rough water I lost a rod over the
side when they opened up. So I switched to Rod Buckles, and I have made
3 other people converts as well. Very nice, and your rods are not going
anywhere :-)

I've had the buckles on the S.S. Minnow for years and they've been great.

hi Ken.

I use the $7 rubber straps sold by BPS, they work great & are easily &
inexpensively replaceable if need be.
