Alaska pictures and comments
looks like a great trip. Pink Salmon. Their condition and fighting
quality diminishes rapidly as they approach spawning. Of course this is true for all salmonids . The hump on that male tells me it's past it's prime. Pinks are best caught off the beach or otherwise near the mouth of their natal rivers. Some rivers (like the Fraser, Squamish and Harrison near Vancouver Canada) offer good fishing for the 1st couple of days after a run enters the river. I've had pinks take me well into the backing in such conditions. They will jump a bit as well. Once they start to lose their sheen and lay about waiting to spawn they are rather lethargic fighters. -- Some of my angling snaps: http://gallery.fishbc.com/gallery/vi...bumName=RalphH |
