The Alaska Fly

The day before I got onto the river in Alaska for my nine day float this
past July, I got into a discussion about dry fly patterns with one of the
local fly-fisherman who fishes many of the Papa Bear Adventure Rivers. He
described a fly that is a delight to the giant leopard rainbows. I happen
to catch one of these flies while on the river and when I got back I
presented the actual fly to him. He told me that is the fly, along with a
lecture of the behavior of the fly when it lands on the surface. I was
amazed with his knowledge in entomology. The fly can be used on all of the
rivers through Papa Bear.
Since then I did some research on the fly and pattern. I turned the fly over
to Gerard the expert fly tier. Gerard's not only a master tier, but easy to
work with. I appreciate his input and expertise on the tie.
If anyone is interested in the pattern you could contact Gerard:
