Easy to tie golden stone nymph?
FlyGuy wrote: Anyone have a pattern for a golden stone nymph that is fairly easy to tie? Weight the body of a 3X long hook with lead wire. Tie in gold or brown rubber legs to the front and rear for the pinchers and tail. Tie in gold and brown variegated chenille at the back, wrap forward to the 2/3rd point, tie in rubber legs madam X style at this point, then wrap the chenille the rest of the way. Takes about 2 minutes and makes a real nice golden stone that you're not afraid of loosing. Substitute all colors for black or brown and make a black or brown stonefly nymph. Frank Reid |

I've seen Frank weight a hook. Just make sure you can lift it when
you're done. and, bring a wheelbarrow to carry a batch of his stoneflies to the stream! I tie ONE fly for specific, high-water conditions and all I do is catch grief for it. By the way, it worked like a charm so I guess you all are just jealous. :-) Frank Reid (forget chuck and duck, I've invented stun and run) |
