.. . Ive always heard it had to be round in order for the shad to stay alive because they have to swim in a circle...Is this true? I use a 55 gallon plastic sugar barrel and a heavy duty recirculation setup. I also sink a 5 gallon plastic bucket in it. The shad seem to be less agitated with the bucket sunk in there for cover, and I can use it to add water periodaically to run out my over flow holes. In the summer I also add ice every 20-30 minutes. -- Bob La Londe Fishing Arizona & The Colorado River Fishing Forums & Contests http://www.YumaBassMan.com -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

Yes this is true, but the big oval tanks are the favorite for shad around here -- Rodney Long, Inventor of the Mojo SpecTastic "WIGGLE" rig, SpecTastic Thread, Boomerang Fishing Pro. ,Stand Out Hooks ,Stand Out Lures, Mojo's Rock Hopper & Rig Saver weights, and the EZKnot http://www.ezknot.com |

It's not so much that they have to swim in a circle, as they WILL swim into a corner and not know enough to turn to get out of the corner. A round tank doesn't have any corners to confuse their feeble little minds. |

I've always heard that when they get in a corner it causes them to get
"rednose" which results in premature death. "RichZ" wrote in message ...
