Call for help

The root cause of the big kill three ears ago is well documented in the
Oregonian and other papers. Research the number of dams on the
Klamath, not that many.
Over the past 10 to 15 years more and more land has been put into
farming. There is more land being irrigated than there is water to
irrigated. Up until a few years ago it hadn't been a problembecause
they years had been "wet".
The dry years brought the demand for more water to be diverted to
farms.
The Bush administration gave it to the farmers. The new farmers were
in a district that was heavily Republican.
So Bush got votes, we got more hay and potatos. The Indians and
commericial fisherman got what they deserve for being democrats.

Coast?

From the CalTrout website;
The Klamath was once the third most productive salmon producing river
in the United States. Today, because of ill-conceived dams and a
legacy of mismanagement, the Klamath is a shadow of its former self.
Before the dams, a million salmon returned to spawn each year. This
year, for the third year in a row, fewer than 30,000 fish returned.

FERC is asking for public input until November 24th. Please send FERC
Secretary Magalie Salas an email or letter and let her know that the
best solution is the simplest -- tearing down the dams.
