Been smoking them on the Delare River (tidal portion) the last 3 Thursdays.
Not bad for December in SE PA! Got some real chunks this week on Shakey
Heads & 4" worms. Water temp was 39, pics on abpf

Nice looking fish Warren. You getting them in or out of the current and
at what depth? The delta water is still over 50 and using 4" worms also
but with t-rig and Junebug is all they want, atleast last Friday, but
who knows this week..

Same water temp I'm fishing in the deeper lakes up here, Warren. I was
doing great in the Hudson, but that closes 11/31, so I've shifted over
to the close to home lakes. The boat ramp at Zoar is less than 2 minutes
from my house, and this is about the only time of the year I fish there.
Here's one from this weekend -- taken from 25 feet or so on a 1 ounce
jig with a black piggyback trailer.

Well, we caught a dozen or so, but only the 1st two were on the big jig.
All the rest on the drop shot.

Rich can you describe your coldwater dropshot technique? I've haven't been
getting the results I'd like to on the dropshot, but switch to a shakey head
& wammo.

Short (6" to 8") dropper, and a fairly stiff worm -- both motor oil and
black worked well for us last weekend. Casting to 8-10 feet of water,
and jiggling the weight down the steep drops. I'm sitting in 40 to 50
feet, just a short pitch from the 8-10 foot range I'm casting too --
often have to open the bail several times on the retrieve to let the
sinker 're-find' the bottom.

I don't know what all the fuss about the shakey head is. I've always
fished small worms and grubs on a 1/16 to 1/4 oz head, and if the fish
are the least bit tough, I always employ what I call 'jiggle fishing',
which is basically shaking the rod tip on a slack-to-semi-slack line.
Been fishing that way for 40 years. Now somebody went and invented it.

About the same water temp. here in Michigan Warren, I've been getting
some nice largemouth on 1/2 oz. blade baits silver buddy type. I have
never fished a shakey head how do you work that.
