And I'm done!

The closest I could find a motor was an hour and a half away. But they did
not open until tomorrow....

So I called, Scammy (hated to bother him on a Sunday), a buddy who does
furnace work...He told me where I could get a motor locally, but again not
until Monday...tomorrow.

Scammy even checked his garage for a spare motor but he had none...Now, the
company he worked for did have motors but it was like $379...I can easily
wait until Monday. After all, I was prepared for Y2K so this is nothing....

A few minutes later, Scammy calls back and tells me his brother works for a
local Supply company and that they charge $50 to special open for
emergencies....could I do $20 cash?

I said no, but I would do it for $25!!!

Long story short...New motor, new condenser and picked up a humidifier
filter while I was there for a grand total of $125.49.

A little soldering and the furnace is up and running....it's nice to have a
good bit of luck on occasion isn't it?

Glad to hear you and yours are warm again!

I remember back when hurricane Floyd was about to hit the coast of NC.
Mother, still terrified from Hugo, in '89, wanted a generator to power the
essentials. It was three days before Floyd was to make land fall, but not a
single generator to be found within a hundred miles. I went over to Lowe's
Hardware, a local chain, and found a 1500 watt generator in Chattanooga, TN.
It was a Sunday night and I headed to TN. When the doors opened, I was
there to snatch my new anchor.

Have yet to use the damn thing! It sits under mother house, just waiting
for the worst. Unfortunately, it probably wont work when I need it most.
I'd better go over there this week and see if I can get I runnin', as I know
the battery is dead and the carb is likely useless :~^ (

I'm real big on following the manual's maintenance recommendations...with
today's equipment anyhow....

....unlike the 1951 'L' series Gravely lawn tractor I picked up the other
day...add oil till it leaks, when it starts running rough and missing, you
need to add oil again!
