Can cold weather harm tackle and line?

I leave my rods, reels, and line in my unheated garage through the winter.
Temps get down into the single numbers on some nights.
Can this hurt the line (I don't put new line on every year) or the rods
(graphite), or the reels?

I could move everything twice yearly up or down into a half-cellar which
stays between 50-80 year round (whereas the garage range is 5-95).

I bet a lot of people wonder about this.

As long as humidity isn't a problem in your garage (which would promote
rusting of your metal gear) I doubt cold temperatures are going to affect
*stored* gear in any fashion.

Very High and low temps can certainly degrade mono, but probably not the
other stuff.

Thanks, Frad. What is "very high" and "very low" in rough numbers?
