Sage 796 XP and 796 SLT
 

Hi,
Im looking for a rod for trout- and salmonfishing in rivers. I've tried XP
and its a lovely rod. Unfortunately Ive have not been able to come over a
SLT 796 yet. They all say this is a lovely rod to cast, but perhaps to soft
for salmon and big troutfishing. Does someone have experiences with both
these rods? Ill be happy for opinions on this.

Hi Finn,

The SLT is maybe 10% softer/lighter and is for those who want a rod that is
not as stiff/powerful as an XP.

For bigger flies, larger water and larger fish, I would advise on the XP for
most.

Hi Bill,
Yes, the XP is really powerful! Well, I will be fishing mostly in rivers
with fishsize between 1.0 kg and 4-5 kg. Ocassionally fishes between 5 and
10 kg. With floating line only, sometimes with an intermediate leader. Im a
bit attracted to the medium fast aktion as the SLT, but Im afraid that its
too soft. With these spesifications, could an SLT be recommended?

Does 2.54 kg = 1 pound?

The XP is fast but the SLT is not slow. Just a little less power.

I like both series?

If I am looking for maximum distance, I would go for the XP.

If not, I like casting the SLT better.
