Thorn in Waders

Got out this week and managed to catch a few fish but also got a thorn
in my waders. I can feel the thorn as it is still in there. Right
now the waders are not leaking. Question- should I remove the thorn
and patch it? Patch it with the thorn in? Is there a chance that if
I remove the thorn they will still not leak? The waders are Dan
Bailey gortex.

Thanks in advance.

Yes.

Patch it with the thorn in?

No. The thorn will eventually puncture the patch as well.

No chance in hell.

I'd remove the thorn as cleanly as possible, then patch the damaged area using
one of the UV-activated repair kits that Simms sells...

Just saw a Simms rep talking, and he advised using plain old AquaSeal. If
it ever comes to getting a pro repair from Simms, they can remove the
Aquaseal with a solvent, but can't remove the UV stuff at all.

FWIW, I think Loon sells the UV stuff, not Simms.

This guy also said to patch pinholes with aquaseal by yourself, not
bothering to send the waders in, as Simms would patch pinholes with a dab
of aquaseal anyway.
