Birds of the Western Palearctic, a nine-volume work of that name which came out between 1977 and 1994. There's also a two-volume concise edition and a DVD. The Western Palearctic is the name given to the region covering Europe, North Africa and what used to called the Middle East. Wow! A serious piece of work then... Be careful when dealing with the pro hunt nut, and bully Ogilvie. Greatest claim to fame was when he was caught out copying Konters excellent book on grebes. Talk about wriggle...... http://tinyurl.com/mean8 and more recently here http://tinyurl.com/2qx7kd http://tinyurl.com/39qkaw Konter was very charitable in letting him have the slip, but then Konters was a work for charity, which makes stealing it all the worse! I have to offer my apologies for getting this wrong. Konter didn't write for charity but for personal gain, nobody has stole a single word of his book, as far as anyone can tell. So sorry, once again, if I mislead any out there. |
