replacement knees

Last year, after having knee surgery, I was able to tackle a few slippery
round rock freestone streams without paying a huge price in pain. I
enjoyed it very much although it's still not my favorite type of fly
fishing. I was hoping for more this year. I spent years on "classic"
trout streams and miss them.

Then, trying to make a few bucks, I got clipped in the bad knee by a
wildeyed young Lab and I'm back to square one :-( as far as knee pain goes.
I'll probably need surgery again, but I'll be damned if I'm going to the Dr
before leaving for the summer. If it gets so bad I can't fish, I'll come
home.

After the last surgery the Dr said something like, "This should help for a
few years until you need knee replacement." argh :-(

Anyone out there wading on an ArtyFISHal knee?

Just a glum thought to tide us over until a flame war starts :-)

I know several folks wading on artifical hips. They do fine. I think I
know one or two on knees but not so sure. If you rehab right you
should to fine.

If you go for a new knee, go to a hospital that does hundreds a year.
Friend in Reno, has had nothing but problems with her replacement. Lots of
scar tissue, and had a couple of infections from the surgery.

I am truly sorry to hear thais
I had 2 arthroscopic surgeries on my knees from racquetball and they still
ache while fishing and hiking but I can live w it
I can tell you from a LOT of experience that physical therapy really does
help
I have gone numerous times from rotator cuff to knees to elbows and it does
work

Best of luck man!

Sincerely
Fred
