Fishing in SW Utah?

I'm planning on heading out to the Zion/Bryce area in the next
two weeks for a vacation. Main purpose is not fishing, but I
was wondering if I should even bother to bring my gear.

Zion and Bryce webpages barely even mention fishing and
web searches seem to say that the fishing is poor. I'll be
driving out through Oregon and Idaho, but don't expect to
dawdle much on the way there or back.

Opinions?

Check this site out, Ken.

I have never fished Southern Utah but I've always heard great things
about the Boulder Mountain area mentioned on that site. There is
supposedly some great Brook Trout fishing in that area.

I'm heading to Zions/St. George the weekend following the Forth but will
not be taking fishing gear. A quick family weekend trip. The heat of
July is not my preferred time to be in that area, but my wife's parents
are visiting from Brazil and we are showing them around.

Russell

I'd take time to fish -- or just spend the entire trip exploring Zion
NP.

Research the Virgin River, Sevier River and the Boulder Mountain and
Panguitch areas.

A couple of links to get you started:

'Boulder Mountain' (http://tinyurl.com/2tslpy)
'Panguitch' (http://tinyurl.com/3bxgrh)
'Canyonlands Adventures: Capitol Reef Backcountry Outfitters'

If you're heading to or from via Idaho, you can also stop at locations
along Rt. 15 in Utah to wet a line in the following areas:
Provo/Heber, Ogden, Logan. And obviously, there's always Idaho.
