By Barbara Ramirez (Contact) Originally published 02:49 p.m., July 17, 2007 Updated 02:49 p.m., July 17, 2007 CORPUS CHRISTI - Coast Guard officials have confirmed the identity of the man whose body washed up on shore early Tuesday on Emerald Beach. John Wooten's body was found at about 9 a.m. by beachgoers, Corpus Christi police said. On Monday, the Coast Guard received a call that Wooten, a Kingsville fishing guide, was thrown overboard when he and two mechanics from Gunderland Boatlands LLC were troubleshooting the engine of his 21-foot motorboat. The Coast Guard called off a search late Monday night and resumed the search at sunrise on Tuesday. The search was postponed at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday because of bad weather conditions, Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Ben Sparacin said. The search was called off once the identity of the body was confirmed, Sparacin said. |
