On-board charger recommendation

I will be installing an on-board charger in my boat in the next couple
of weeks. Does anyone have any recommendation for a good one or
condemnation of a bad one?

I have read some really bad reviews of Minn Kota's charger. Right now
I am leaning toward the Dual Pro unit. I figure that if they are good
enough for the new Rangers they will be good enough for my old Bass
Tracker.

FWIW I have had a three bank Dual Pro for about 10 years. It is left on year
round when I am not in the boat. It has been through 2 marina fires and a
tornado. It has never failed me so far. It is manufactured in Nashville
about 5 miles from my home just off Harding Place. I can tell you that they
are very nice people with whom to deal. The founder died about a month ago
and his sons now run the business. A first class operation. I have no
connection with the company other than being a satisfied customer.

I gotta agree with Jack on the Dual Pro. Have one in my boat for the
last 8 years, no problems and have had it submurged from big waves a
number of times.

Another voice for Dual-Pro. They had to replace mine several years ago.
Did so with a small charge, but it was well worth it.

(Gulp!) I've had Dual Pro for several years and agree with all the comments
so far. However, when mine went south recently we purchased a Minn Kota.
Never heard anything bad about them. Fits nicely into the boat, a nice
status light system and has worked so far all this season. (I do have
another dual pro laying around here somewhere tho . . . just in case now
! )
