Because of the spots I would guess that is a Coho

Landlocked coho are called kokanee, and they travel up the streams that feed
the lake to spawn

I see now that the photo has "seneca" in the file name.
If this is Seneca Lake as in one of the Finger Lakes of New York
then I would think this is a Landocked Salmon which is a Landlocked
form of the Atlantic Salmon.

I'm not positive but I think you may be Right. The only Atlantic I get
to see are farmed fish and they have the spots on the Face. Good job if
your right!

You are correct about the where and the what. There are no kokanee or
coho in the finger lakes. Once I was in teh tug hill area, and a friend
caught a strange looking salmonid that tuned out to be a kokanee. I
thought it was a landlocked atlantic because it was silvery.

It is not a Coho (Silver) Salmon. It is definitely a landlocked
(Atlantic) salmon. A fat one too.

What was she eating, Peter? I've only killed one fish on the Rapid
and it was a small (16 inch) landlock that was badly hooked and
bleeding. Joanne and I had it for breakfast and it too was cooked on
a grill. Very delicious.

I actually tossed the guts before thiking of examining the contents.
Mostly coldwater fish around here eat Alewives and to a much lesser
extent, smelt.
