Drop shot sinker
FWIW. Over the past years drop shotting has become about the only way I now
fish. Several years ago I started using this homemade rig which consists of a swivel with a piece of soft copper wire attached. The swivel is attached to the end of the line below the hook. You can insert the end of the wire through any type sinker that has a hole . Bend the wire up and you are ready to cast. The big advantage for me is the ease of changing sinker weights, especially after dark. If you hang the sinker, the sinker will usually straighten the wire and fall off. A picture is present on ABPF. |

Old invention,, as I was the first "on record" to do it A paper clip wire works better than the copper for the wire, and a lot easier to come up with. Your swivel actually promotes your lure twisting your line,, you don't need it,, just a loop in the wire is what's needed Mojo lures has been "selling" my version for over 5 years, it's called the Rig Saver, it is also an awesome Carolina rigging method,, if the lead snags the weight just pulls off the wire. I also now have a better version of it for drop shotting than even Mojo or yours, as it combines the "drop shot" swivel with the wire,, no knot needed. P.S. If you ever "try" the Wiggle rig,, standard drop shotting rig just never will be good enough again for you, as Wiggle rig out produces it a minimum of 3 fish to 1 on the drop shot, the reasons are many,, equal vibration on the lure, much more control of the lure's action See this video on Youtube, http://ezknot.com/videos.html , you can't do that with a drop shot -- Rodney Long SpecTastic Wiggle rig Formally the Mojo Wiggle rig http://spectastictackle.com/ |
