Greetings from the north woods. It's a nice cool 52F as
I type this morning, quite a difference from the sauna
we left in Illinois.

I took Kipper the Hound and fished the Cascade River for
awhile yesterday afternoon. The water is very low. It's
the second consecutive year of drought up here and the
river is lower now during the last week of August than
it was when I was here last year during the second week
of September. But the thermometer registered a cool 65F
so in we go.

Fished a couple of pools upstream of the parking area,
the first fish to hand was a fat little brookie with a
brilliant orange belly. It was to be the only brookie
of the day. Kipper is 11 years old now and try as he
might he couldn't get across the stream. He finally
gave up trying and climbed to the top of the bluff where
he could keep an eye on me and laid down. I caught a few
little rainbows and then headed back to the car for a
Budweiser break.

Kipper indicated that he was ready to call it a day but
we took off downstream. There is a well traveled trail
all along that portion of the Cascade River so you can walk
as far as you wish down the trail then fish your way back
upatream to the parking area. Hidden Falls is just over a
quarter mile downstream so we jumped off the trail there.
Spent a very pleasant hour and a half catching feisty
rainbows before a much needed rain blew through. A fine
day astream with my hound dog.

Today I go canoeing in search of smallmouth bass.

....snip a nice TR...

Thanks Kenny, your TR *almost* dispells the smell of this place, the vitriol
and self hate that is so in evident here. We need more of those, please give
us a smallie report, I could use one.

And thanks for the TR Ken. I think it would be cool to have a cool good
dog along. I'm glad some is catching some cool weather.

Nice TR, Ken. Henry was a lot like Kipper. But Jenny would eat her
way through the woods and if I caught a fish, she would eat that too.
She ate a spiker, a green tomato, and a sock today.

It was chilly in Maine this past week which helped to bring the water
temp down to a cool 62. It should be even cooler my mid September.
As for bass - come to the Pond in the River (Rapid). You can catch
bass all day long off of Lakewood's boat dock. Big ones too.

Thanks for the TR.

Dave

And your point is? I mentioned that I donīt use the spell checker in
this software, because I did not want to be seen as recommending it on
those grounds. I can hardly recommend something I dont use.It has a
spell checker, and I assume it works well enough, otherwise a few of
the millions of people who have installed it, would doubtless have
complained about it, and as far as I am aware, nobody has.

Based on previous performances here, I am bound to assume that you
interpreted this as some form of self-aggrandisement on my part.
Sorry, wrong again.

Before you complain of the stink of vitriol, you should take care not
to nudge the bottle yourself.

A spell checker would not have helped you here anyway, but it is
should be either "so evident", or "so in evidence".

No need to thank me, Glad to be of help.

Not much to report, the storm yesterday made lake fishing
difficult today. Caught a few bluegill but that was all.
It was a very nice day to be paddling about though. I had
to rent a canoe this trip, either that or take both cars
or leave my mother-in-law at home. The price of gas ruled
out taking both cars and domestic tranquility rules. ;-)

So I rented my favorite canoe that I don't actually own,
a Wenonah Adirondack.

This is the boat landing. We had the lake to ourselves.

Kipper the Hound was quite happy to spend the day in the canoe.

Um, apparently, shouldn't it is be "...what it is should be Junior...?"
Oh, I doubt this is gonna help,
