A Patriotic Charity
I literally stumbled upon this website ProjectHealingWaters.org and was writing them a check within minutes. I would urge any person who feels a sense of gratitude to our troops who serve and are wounded overseas to make a donation to this cause. Being an avid fly fisher as well as a currently serving veteran, I feel a special obligation to help any cause that helps rehabilitate troops through fly fishing and tying. Check it out and give what you can. -- Raven456 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Raven456's Profile: http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulleti...hp?userid=2247 View this thread: http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulleti...ad.php?t=12621 ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

Anonimity not by intention. I only hope that maybe a few folks will take a look at the website and throw a few dollars their way. It seems to be an upstart charity which is well sponsored if you looke at their site and is run by a retired Navy Captain. I can only imagine what these troops have to endure and know that if I ever become disabled due to a combat action that there are a few feoolow fly fishing sportsman around who would be there to assist in mental and emotional recovery through thre joy of "the fly." -- Raven456 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Raven456's Profile: http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulleti...hp?userid=2247 View this thread: http://www.njflyfishing.com/vBulleti...ad.php?t=12621 ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

The Moroccans who fish in the Atlas Mountains? The Afghan guerrillas fishing in the Hindu Kush? This is an international NG. That said, it does look like a laudable and well-inentioned organization, and I have a lot of sympathy for troops from any country who have been disabled while fighting on behalf of their own state's ruthless politicians, media barons and dumb population. For my own part, one reason why I go fly-fishing is that I find it intensely nerve-racking, and I use it to liven myself up after the tedium and boredom of war-zones. Lazarus |

But my kids grew up in Belfast - the windows of their bedroom blew in when the IRA bombed a nearby police station (they of course slept through it), and I tend to work in countries that are even more violent than England. There's an overground rail station at the end of my street that takes me directly into the centre of town, to Gatwick airport, or to Luton airport. My bees can forage to their hearts' content (if bees do have hearts) on the ivy and weeds that grow in the abandoned gardens round here. And I can keep my Dari up to scratch here - I speak only Dari when I go marketing at the local convenience store and greengrocer's. I've been here so long and the area is so bad (the London Evening Standard described our street as 'the worst street in Britain') that I've felt that it had to start going up sometime. In fact it's started happening. Ten years ago the upstairs apartments were occupied by some asylum seekers and a drug smuggler. Now they've been bought by an actor from the National Theatre and a City banker. Lazarus |
