forgot, another question
 

I read bassmaster and a few other mags beside watching fishing shows. Now
one company says their red line is invisible in the water and fish cannot
see it, another company boasts on their red hooks and fish suposed to be
able to see it and I guess think it's blood. Now it would seem somebody is
lying. Any imput would be appreciated.

Or maybe everybody is lying. This has been hashed out before here. Nobody
is totally convinced of either claim, but I know a couple guys who change
out the front hooks on their topwater baits with redhooks.

Well here are the facts
Red is the first color that you loose as you go deeper,, fish nor humans
can see red down so far,, but it does not go invisible, it just turns to
a shade of gray, perhaps fish can still tell something is red,, just
because it is a different shade of gray.

The line companies are in a way lying, although the fish don't see their
red line, as red at depth, the line is not invisible

Red lures and lures having red on them, have been very productive for
many years, so it must help.

Red hooks have caught more fish when fished on the same line (same bait,
in front of the same fish, at the same time,) with other color hooks.

I was wondering the same thing.
My local rep has been telling me this year everyone is looking for the
red braided line on bait casters..... I wasn't sure if that meant he
had a lot of it, or if he was really telling me the truth.

The red powerpro has been popular, but the facts seem to be muddled.

But it seems the general consensus is on contrast and hue. Do bass
have cones in their eyes? I know sal****er fish are sensitive to color
quite often, and salmon seem to be as well, but I don't know about
Bass.

The red line is a darker sort of red... perhaps it blends better? I
know when I fish for pickerel or pike Red in the fly or on the lure is
almost always a standard.

The catfish customers I have down in S.Carolina like the Cajun red
line. But they are fishing in muddy waters for channel cats (I think).
