out to the eclipse
Lunar Eclipse tonight for those of you with clear skies. We get totality,
can't speak for you guys in more northerly latitudes. Complete at around 8:30 PM. Considering the amount of howling I've seen cross my monitor today, the full moon factor is in full effect. -- Stev Lenon 91B20 '68-'69 Known otherwise as: Ze'ev Yaacov ben Aryeh ha Levi. |

Have spent the last hour and a half watching it approach totality! Fantastic! Probably the best I've ever seen. Viewed through binocs it is even better. g.c. |

I've stepped out to look several times in the last couple of hours. At totality (or what looked like if from here, anyway) it had a decidedly orange cast to it.....something like looking at the setting sun through smoke, though much fainter, of course. Sort of a translunar sunset. Made me wonder what the view from up there back toward here might be like. Maybe we should have a Loonie clave some day. I've been out walking for the past hour and I stopped at a neighbor's house to take a peek through his telescope. As the shadow was lifting I could actually watch the light advancing across the surface features. Nice clear cold night too. Beautiful viewing conditions. |

At least thats what it looked like last time I was there. g.c. |
