Rotary Fly Tying Vises

The Renzetti Traveler has been a great vise. The distance between the
base and horizontal shaft is appx. 6". I wish it were 7" or 8"
(personal preference). Be cautious not to overclamp hooks. Jaws chip.
I know.

On another note, only purchase 1/10 the tying material you need or you
will never be able to tie all the flies you have material for in a
lifetime. Most fly tiers have hoards of fly tying material, stuffed
in every corner, collected from decades collecting.

Somebody here named Frank would most likely agree.

Thanks to everyone for all of the great advice and opinions on my question
on rotary vices. Many recommended the Renzetti Traveler and I just picked
one up today. After reading the instructions and running through the adjustments,
I think it will suit my needs quite well. I also seriously considered the
DynaKing Barracuda Trekker because all of the comments about the hook holding
strength of the DynaKing jaws. It was quite a bit larger, heavier, and $50
more; so stuck with my original choice of the Traveler.

This trip was precipitated when my "kit vice" allowed 2 hooks to pull from
the vice while tying yesterday - that shouldn't happen anymore.
